Note: Only domains with these TLDs are eligible for transfer at this time:
Signing up
If you haven't already signed up for a Turbify plan, you'll need to do that before you can transfer your domain. Note: There is no transfer domain option for Business Maker plans.
Choose a Turbify plan. When you're asked to choose a domain name, choose to use your existing domain, then follow the instructions to sign up for a plan using the domain name you already own. Learn how.
After you complete your order, we'll guide you through the transfer process.
Please note that you can associate only one domain with each plan. If you already have a Turbify plan, such as Web Hosting, and would like to transfer additional domains to Turbify, you can! (You'll be able to easily redirect traffic from those domains to your website at any time.)
Note: Turbify is not a domain registrar. We register domain names through our partner, Tucows. Learn more.
Preparing to transfer
The steps required to transfer your domain may vary a little depending on your registrar. Please contact your registrar for help with the following steps, if needed. To transfer any domain, you'll need to:
- Ask your registrar for the special code (sometimes called an EPP or Authorization code) that you'll need to authorize the transfer.
- Make sure your domain name is unlocked. Often you can unlock the domain yourself using your registrar's domain management tools.
Tip: Don't remember which registrar you used? Look it up in the public WHOIS.
You may also need to update a few of your domain settings. Please note when the transfer process starts, the name servers for the domain will be locked until the process ends and you will not be able to make changes to the name servers during that time. See more on what you need to prepare for a transfer.
Transfer your domain
- Sign into your My Services page.
- Click the Domain link.
- Click the Transfer to Turbify link.
- On the first section of the Transfer your domain dialog, enter your Administrator Email address and your Authorization Code. Note: To reduce the risk of typographical errors, we strongly recommend that you copy and paste your authorization code, not type it in.
If you can't receive email there, contact your current registrar to update this address. - Next, enter your Registration Contact information. If your Admin Contact is the same as the Registrant, mark the checkbox next to Same as Registrant Contact. Otherwise, click the arrow next to Admin Contact and add your information.
- Click the Transfer button. button.
That's it! If there are any problems transferring your domain, we'll let you know immediately. Make sure to keep an eye on the email address you confirmed during the transfer request--you may receive a request to confirm your domain transfer. Once the transfer is completed, don't forget to close your account at the previous registrar.
