Your description summarizes your page content and may encourage clicks in search results.
Some search engines use your description to help categorize your page, but more importantly, your homepage description may show up in search results. A clear and persuasive description may not boost your search engine ranking but can encourage prospective customers to visit your site.
Writing an effective meta description
- It should be readable and interesting.
- It should feature one or two keywords that show up on the page (if possible, place them near the beginning of your description).
- It shouldn't exceed 256 characters.
