What's causing this error?
You'll get this error if you change your email address with PayPal after adding PayPal as a payment method. You shouldn't change your email address with PayPal after adding PayPal as a payment method for your store.
If you change your email address with PayPal, customers using PayPal as a payment method won't be able to complete their transaction using PayPal, and will get an error stating Unable to communicate with payment processor. Please try completing this transaction later. Customers who encounter this message may complete their order using a different payment method.
Did you change your email address with PayPal?
If you changed your email address with PayPal, you can resolve this error by changing your email address with PayPal back to the email address used when PayPal was added as a payment method for your store.
If you don't want to use your previous email address, you can instead remove and re-add PayPal as a payment method:
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.
- Go to Payment Center.
- If it's not already expanded, click the PayPal Checkout link.
- Delete PayPal as a payment option by clicking the Delete button.
- In the confirmation pop-up, confirm that you wish to delete PayPal by clicking the Yes button.
- Click the Add New Processor button.
- Add PayPal back in as a payment method for your store.
- Return to Store Manager and publish your Order Settings.
If you continue to experience this problem after removing and re-adding PayPal as a payment method, please contact Customer Support.
Does this issue affect other payment methods?
No. If you've changed your email address with PayPal and are experiencing this issue, only customers who choose PayPal as a payment method will get this error. Customers can complete their order using a different payment method.
