Override a variable

Find out how to override a global setting on a specific page in your store.

Variables allow you to define a global setting to be used across all pages in your store. This allows you to update the variable in one place rather than on each page of your site. However, you may wish to make a change to these global settings on a specific page. You make such a change by overriding a variable and creating a unique setting for that page only.

Setting up a variable override

  1. Sign in to your My Services page.
  2. Click the Store link.
    The Store link is under Control Panels.
  3. Go to Store Editor.
    The Store Editor link is under Edit.
  4. Navigate to the page on which you wish to add a variable override.
  5. Click the Edit button.

  6. Click the Override Variable button for an alphabetical list of all the variables you can override.

  7. In the Override Variable dialog:
    • Choose the variable from the pull-down menu.
    • Click the Update button.

  8. Scroll down to Custom Properties and edit the variable as desired.

  9. Click the Update button to confirm your edits.

  10. Publish when ready.

Remove a variable override

Follow these steps to restore a global variable to an item page.

  1. Sign in to your My Services page.
  2. Click the Store link.
    The Store link is under Control Panels.
  3. Go to Store Editor.
    The Store Editor link is under Edit.
  4. Navigate to the page on which you wish to remove a variable override.
  5. Click the Edit button.
    The Edit button.
  6. Click the Remove Property button.
    The Remove Property button.
  7. In the Remove Custom Property dialog:
    • From the pull-down menu, select the custom property you wish to remove.
    • Click the Update button. You'll be returned to the Edit page.

  8. Click the Update button to save your changes.
