Override the Head-tags variable
Entering a description in the above way applies the same description to each page in your site. To apply unique descriptions to certain pages, you will need to add the override the Head-tags field for each of these pages, using the Override Variable feature. To override the Head-tags field:
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- Go to Store Editor.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- Go to the page you wish to edit then click the Edit button.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- Click the Override Variable button.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- Select the Head-tags variable from the pull-down menu then click the Update button.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- You will return to the Edit page and the Head-tags variable will appear under the Custom Properties section. Enter the meta description in the Head-tags field you have just created.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
Note: Meta data entered into this field must be formatted using full HTML. Page descriptions should be no more than 160 to 180 characters total (25 to 30 words), and relevant to the page content, including keywords and keyphrases from the product or section description (caption) used in the body of the page. - Click the Update button when finished.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
- Publish when ready.
/msdyn_blobfile/$value)
Note: Overriding the Head-tags variable will override all tags entered in the global Head-tags variable field (on the Variables page) and not just the meta description tag. If you are using other tags in the global Head-tags field and you want to maintain them on the page you are editing, you should include them in the Head-tags override field along with the new meta description tag.
Customizing the meta description tag for your store's home, product, or category pages
