This Help Page explains some of the different ways to customize the home page of your store. Your home page is one of the most important pages on your site, because it's the page that most visitors see first. The home page is your chance to immediately convey what products or services your site offers. You may have only a few seconds to convince shoppers that your site has what they want before they click away to another site.
To offer you more control over this important page, the home page in the Store Editor has some of its own variables. You'll find the variables specific to the home page of your site by clicking the Edit button in the editor toolbar from your home page.
Page-title
The Page-title field gives you a way to control the title that appears in the title bar of your browser when viewing your home page. If you leave this field blank, your store name will be used as the title by default. Store Editor lets you add a specific title because page titles contribute to search engine rankings. For other pages in your site, the title is taken from the item's Name field.
The title tag is important because major search engines use the title contents as part of the ranking formula to determine search engine placement. The title contents also appears as the default text when visitors bookmark a page in your site for some browsers. Use key phrases in your title content to boost your rankings, but be careful not to overload your title by repeating keywords; search engines often penalize sites viewed as spamming their title contents. Home page carousel
You can upload an image to display on your Home page using the Image field. You can then create new image properties in order to add additional images in a slideshow format. Learn how.
Specials
Sections and items can be added to the home page as Specials or Featured Products. This is a great way to promote sale items or slow-sellers by giving them an increased presence in your store. Learn more.
Intro-text and Message
Text added to the Intro-text field appears right above the home page image or carousel. Text added to the Message field appears near the bottom of the home page, under the home page image or carousel and Specials. Note: You can also add HTML to both fields. Learn more.
Note: Some variables on the Edit page will not function in Theme Manager-based templates. These include:
