The Page Properties variables allow you to add keywords to your meta tags and also to add footer content. Page Properties variables include:
Title - Enter a title to appear at the top of the page (unless the name-image variable is used). The title appears on multiple pages (Info, Privacy, Home unless page-title field is used). The title also appears in the title bar of most web browsers. A unique title per page is highly recommended as too many pages with identical titles may result in penalties for some search engines.
Keywords - Enter keywords separated by commas to be included within the META tag for the keyword attribute. The software generates the META tag automatically so you do not need to include HTML. An example syntax would be: dogs, cats, bird cages, pets, guinea pigs.
Entering keywords in this way applies the same keywords to each page in your site. You may wish to apply a different set of keywords for certain pages or a unique set for each product page. To do so, you will need to override the keywords variable for each page where you wish to have a different set of keywords.
Note: Most major search engines have deprecated the use of keywords to assign search engine result rankings. You may want to focus more time on including keywords (and keyphrases) within the page content itself rather than in the meta tags.
Final-text - Enter text to appear on every page in your store for Editor 3.0 templates (all pages except the Search, Info, Privacy, Index and Shopping Cart pages for Editor 2.0 templates). To add this text to your Info page, you can copy the text and paste it into the Info field on this page. Typically this field is used to display footer content such as a copyright date. This field also accepts HTML.
Address-phone (Deprecated for Editor 3.0 templates) - Enter text for your address and phone number to appear on the Home page of your store. Line breaks entered in the field are preserved. Note: The Info page also has an Address-phone field but text entered in this field on the Variables page does not display on the Info page.
Head-tags (Advanced mode only) - Enter HTML into the Head-tags field to add JavaScript or HTML that needs to appear within the HEAD tags of a page. Note: You do not need to include HEAD tags within your code as the Store Editor will automatically insert these.
Note: An HTML page is divided into two areas defined by two tags, HEAD and BODY:
- The HEAD tag is located at the top of the page, just before the BODY tag. The HEAD tag contains the page's TITLE tag, which is automatically created for you in Store Editor from an item's Name field. The contents of the TITLE tag are displayed in the program bar of the end user's web browser. The HEAD tag can also contain optional META tags. META tag content is not displayed on the browser, rather it is used by some search engines to index and rank web pages.
- The area within the BODY tag contains all the HTML needed to display everything on the web page.
Html-above-left-nav (Editor 3.0 only) - Enter HTML to appear above the side navigation links. Note: Entering tables with fixed widths or images larger than the side navigation bar may cause display problems.
Html-below-left-nav (Editor 3.0 only) - Enter HTML to appear below the side navigation links. Note: Entering tables with fixed widths may cause display problems.
Note: Variables marked Advanced mode only can only be accessed by switching the Store Editor to Advanced mode (by clicking the red arrow on the Editor toolbar, or by switching the mode on the Controls page) and then accessing the Variables page. Entering invalid characters into these fields can cause problems so exercise caution before deciding to alter the default settings for these variables.
