Merchants may add the same custom field with the same field ID across their registration, customer account, and checkout shipping and billing pages, using the Link Custom Field feature in Checkout & Registration Manager. When these fields are linked, information entered by a customer into this field on one page will be captured and displayed on the other pages the field has been added to. For example, if you've added a custom field for a customer's mobile phone number to your registration and customer account pages, the mobile phone number entered into this field on the registration form would also be displayed on the Account Settings page of their customer account.
Note: At this time, if you wish for a custom field on the registration form and/or customer account page to also be added to and linked with your store's shipping and billing pages, this field must first be added to the shipping and billing pages, then linked on the registration form and/or customer account page. If a field is first added to the registration form or customer account page, it will not be available as a custom field that can be linked to for the shipping and billing pages. This is a temporary issue that is currently being investigated and resolved.
Using the Link Custom Field feature
First, add a custom field to your registration form, customer account page, or shipping and billing pages. For this example, a custom field will be added to the registration form and linked on the customer account page.
Link the custom field you've created on the My Account page
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.
- Go to Checkout & Registration Manager.
- Go to Page Configuration.
- From the Customer Registration tab, click the My Account link.
- Locate the Page Sections section of the page. Select the section in which you'd like the custom field to appear then click the Add button.
- The Link Custom Field section will be displayed at the top of the Add Field page. Enable the Link to Custom Field checkbox, then select the custom field from the Use existing custom field pull-down menu.
- On the bottom-right corner, click the Finish button. The custom field you've selected will be listed in the table of sections and fields that are included on the page.
- Click Save or Save & Preview.
- Publish your Order Settings.
