You can add images saved in one of the following formats: GIF, JPG, or PNG.
An image format describes how an image is saved and understood by your computer. Your GIF and JPG images may look just the same to you, but computers and browsers will handle them slightly differently. The good news is that you don't need to know how these formats work! You just need to know what to do if your image is not supported.
To check an image's format, locate it on your computer and check its file extension, which is simply a period and group of letters at the end of the file name. Your image birthdayparty, for example, should end in .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, or .png, like this: birthdayparty.gif
If your image is saved in a different format which means it ends in something other than .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, or .png you'll need to open and resave your image as a GIF, JPG, or PNG file.
