Some third-party providers allow inbound A/CNAME records as an alternative to name server delegation. This is useful if you want to host business email with Turbify and your site elsewhere. Some third-party providers only have CNAME records to offer for redelegation and not an A record. However, due to international DNS standards, CNAME records are not able to be set for the root domain. In the Domain Control Panel, the root domain source is the @ symbol.
As a workaround, you can create a domain forward to http://www.widgetdesigns.com or https://www.widgetdesigns.com -- the trailing "/" is important, the Domain Control Panel will not allow creating the forward if it is not included, because it looks like a circular forwarding to the same domain.
The record for www.widgetdesigns.com or *.widgetdesigns.com can then be edited to point to the desired hostname.
Note: The * record is known as a wildcard. A wildcard is a DNS record that will match requests for non-existent domain names. Use the * CNAME record with extreme caution, as it will override all records, potentially disabling email and FTP access on your Turbify account.
Please note that any changes that you make to your advanced DNS settings can interrupt your Turbify service. Turbify has a limited scope to assist with resolving issues that may arise from DNS setting changes. If you are not an advanced user, we strongly recommend that you not change these settings.
