Update a theme
cPanel's WordPress Toolkit allows you to easily update individual themes or set them to Autoupdate to automatically keep them updated for maximum security.
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Hosting link.
- Click the WP Toolkit link on the left toolbar. Note: WP Toolkit is not available for the WordPress Essentials Hosting plan.
- Click the Themes tab for the selected site you wish to update.
- If you have individual themes with updates available, they will display with an Updates link next to them. Click the Updates link for the theme you wish to update to load the update modal.
- Check the boxes for the items you wish to update, or check the Name box to check all of the boxes at once.
- If you have Smart Update activated, you'll be invited to test out the theme update before committing it to your live site.
- If you do not have Smart Update activated, click the Update button to run the update on your theme.
- Once all updates are complete, you can click the gray X to exit the modal and return to the main WordPress Themes menu.
Note: If you decide you no longer want to manage updates manually, you can toggle the Autoupdate for your themes to have it taken care of as updates become available (recommended). This feature is recommended to ensure your themes don't fall out of date, which can open your site to security vulnerabilities. You can either activate Autoupdate for all themes by clicking the Autoupdate all themes toggle or activating the Autoupdate toggles for individual themes.
