Disable password protection for your directory

Learn how to turn off the option to sign in to view your web pages.

You can always turn off directory protection and once again make a directory in your website accessible to the public.

Disable directory protection 

  1. Sign into your My Services page.
  2. Click the Web Hosting link.The Web Hosting link under Control Panels.
  3. Click Directory Privacy in the Files module.
    The Directory Privacy link under the Files Module.
  4. Navigate to the directory which is password protected and click the Edit link.  Directory Lock and Edit Link.
  5. In Security Settings, deselect Password protect this directory. Then click the Save button.

  6. A confirmation message will appear. Click the Go Back link to go back to the security settings and then click again to go back to the directory list.Directory Privacy Access Remove Confirmation.

Remove a user from an existing password protected directory

  1. Sign into your My Services page.
  2. Click the Web Hosting link.The Web Hosting link under Control Panels.
  3. Click Directory Privacy in the Files module.
    The Directory Privacy link under the Files Module.
  4. Navigate to the directory containing the one that you want to remove a user from and click the Edit link.  
    Add User to Directory and Edit Link.
  5. Under Authorized Users, click on the user you want to remove and then click the Delete User button. Note: If the user has access to other directories, follow the same steps to remove.

  6. A confirmation message will appear. Click the Go Back link to repeat the process for other users.

Note: To change a user's password only, add the username to the Username field in Create User and set a new password.
