When you purchase Private Domain Registration for the domain you registered through Turbify, we send a message to our domain name registration partner, Tucows. Tucows then begins the process of making your personal domain contact information private. This entails replacing the mailing address, email address, and phone numbers of your domain name registrant, administrator, and technical and billing contacts in the public WHOIS database with Tucows' contact information.
When the activation process is complete, your own contact information will remain associated with your domain in Tucows' database but will not be made available in the public WHOIS (please note that the anonymous information such as your domain name servers will remain public).
When third parties locate your domain name and WHOIS record in the public database, they will be unable to view your contact information. To communicate with the owner, administrator, technical contact, or billing contact for your domain, a viewer will first need to contact Tucows. Learn more about this process. Please be aware that Tucows reserves the right to disclose your contact information to comply with laws and other regulations as it deems appropriate. Note: If you don’t have Private Domain Registration, your contact information simply says Data Protected, and there’s no way to actually reach you.
Important: Changes to domain name registration can take up to 24 hours to be reflected in the public WHOIS database. You can review your WHOIS record anytime from the Contact Information page of your Domain Control Panel. Learn how.
