If you insert custom HTML into your checkout pages that reference images or other files, you will need to make sure that any images/files are referenced from a secure URL (https). If you do not use a secure URL, shoppers may get warnings that the site contains both secure and insecure data. Receiving such warnings may cause shoppers to question the security of your checkout process and they may abandon their order for fear of having their personal or financial data mishandled.
Preferred method
The preferred method for both Merchant Solutions and Store v.1 merchants is to upload files to the Store Files section, which allows for creating a Secure URL for the file.
Upload a file in your Store Files directory
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.
- Go to Store Files.
OR
If you're in the Store Editor, click the Files button in the Editor toolbar (you may need to switch to Advanced mode).
- Click the Upload button.
- Click the Select a File button.
Note: Files can be a maximum size of 15MB. - On your computer, navigate to and select the file you wish to upload then click Open.
- If you wish to change the file name, enter a file name (letters, numbers or hyphens only) in the File Name field. Note: The original file name will display by default.
- Click the Upload Files button.
- Once the file has uploaded, click the checkbox next to the file name then click the first Publish button. Note: The number next to the Publish text is the number of unpublished files that have been selected. In this example, one (1) unpublished file has been selected.
- Click the second Publish button.
- After the file has been published, click the file name link.
- Copy the Secure URL appearing for your uploaded file. Note: If you have secured your storefront via Security Manager, we recommend copying the Relative path.
Merchant Solutions only
As another option, Merchant Solutions customers can upload files to the Web Hosting portion of their account. Learn how to upload files to the File Manager.
Then copy the secure address from your browser's address field for use when referencing this file within checkout pages. Note: The address will be similar to https://widgetdesigns.com/image-name.jpg or https://site.widgetdesigns.com/image-name.jpg.
