The Saved Cards feature is designed to let your registered customers breeze through checkout, without having to enter their credit or debit card information each time they place an order with your store. Letting customers select saved cards to pay for purchases makes ordering faster, easier, and more convenient, which in turn can help to encourage more sales.
The first time a registered customer completes checkout after the Saved Cards feature has been enabled, the customer will see the following message as either a dismissible information box or as a message that appears inline on the order confirmation page, depending on the display option you selected in Checkout & Registration Manager:
When the customer clicks the Save my card information button, their computer will be designated as a trusted computer that is able to use saved cards, and the credit or debit card the customer has used to place their order with your store will be saved to their My Account profile. Customers may add new cards, or update and delete existing cards at any time from their My Account page.
When a customer returns to your store and places an order using the same computer, they will be able to select the saved card during checkout.
If a customer returns to your store and places an order using the same computer, but using a different credit or debit card, the new card will automatically be saved to their My Account profile. However, upon order confirmation, the customer will be given the option to remove the card from their saved cards.
If a customer with one or more saved cards returns to your store and places an order using a saved card, but using a different computer, they will be given the option to designate the computer as a trusted computer that is able to use saved cards.
Managing Saved Card Information
When you enable the Saved Cards feature, a Saved Cards tab will be added to the My Account page. When a registered customer signs in to their account, and accesses their My Account page, they will see the following:
Here, customers may add new cards, edit existing cards, delete cards, change their preferred card, and changed trusted computer settings for the computer they are signed into their account using, if they have designated the computer as a trusted computer able to use saved cards.
