WordPress makes it easy to import just about any blog you created with a different tool.
To get started, you'll need to use your current tool to export your blog data. For instructions on how to export your content (which usually includes your posts, comments, and other settings), please see the documentation associated with your tool, or visit the WordPress Importing Content page for more information.
Once you have saved your exported blog content on your computer, you can import it into WordPress.
- First you'll need to activate a WordPress blog and sign in to your WordPress dashboard.
- In the Tools menu, click Import.
- Click the Install Now link under the name of your current blog tool. Note: If you don't see your tool, click the search the plugin directory link to see if an importer is available.
- Follow the instructions provided to import the file of exported content you saved to your computer.
Please be aware that whenever you move files and database information, there is a risk of corruption or loss of data: When you move your files, your blog may become temporarily unavailable, and links, plugins, and other settings you may have configured could break or lose functionality. For assistance and more information about WordPress, please see the WordPress Codex.
