Export your blog from your original WordPress account
To get started, you'll need to export your site from your original WordPress account.
- Sign in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Click Tools then select Export.
- On the Choose what to export page:
- Select which content you want to export. To move all of the blog content, select All content.
- Click the Download Export File button.
- Follow the instructions to save an XML file of your site content to your computer.
Tip: WordPress calls this file eXtended RSS or WXR.
Import into your new WordPress site
Once you've saved your exported site to your computer, you can import it into your new WordPress site.
- Sign in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Click Tools then select Import.
- Under WordPress, click the Install Now link to install the Importer.
- After the Importer is installed, click the Run Importer link.
- Browse for the XML file you saved to your computer.
- Click the Upload file and import button to import your blog.
