When you complete the signup process, Akismet will provide you with your own API key; it's a short code unique to your site. Keep it safe, as you would a bank PIN number or access code.
Activate Akismet and retrieve your API key
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Hosting link.
- Click the WP Toolkit in the left toolbar. Note: WP Toolkit is not available for the WordPress Essentials Hosting plan.
- In the Plugins section, click the Toggle button to turn On Akismet Anit-Spam.

- Click the Log in button to access your WordPress dashboard.

- From the Settings menu, select Akismet Anti-Spam.

- On the Akismet Anti-Spam page in WordPress, do one of two things:
- If you do not already have your API key, click the Set up your Akismet account button and sign up for the Akismet plan that best matches your business. After signing up, log in to your Akismet account and copy your API key, then proceed to step b.

- If you already have your API key, click the Manually enter an API key link.

- Then enter your API key in the field and click the Connect with API key button.

- On the Akismet Anti-Spam page, you will see your new API key under Settings.
