home page
Your home page is the main page of your website. It's the page your site visitors will see when they go to your domain, such as http://www.widgetdesigns.com. The file that generates this default web page (often called the index page) when you create your site with Web Hosting is called index.html. Site visitors can see your home page when they enter either http://www.widgetdesigns.com or http://www.widgetdesigns.com/index.html in the address bar of their web browser.
We automatically create an Under Construction home page for you at your web address when you sign up for your Web Hosting plan. When you build your own web site or page using a Turbify tool, your home page will be named index.html automatically and replace the Under Construction page we created for you. Be sure you do not change the name of this file, or your new home page will not display at your domain. If you create your home page using a third-party tool, be sure to name your main page index.html. Learn more.
host name
A host name is an Internet address or domain name with a prefix. For example, a host name of the domain name widgetdesigns.com may be example.widgetdesigns.com. You can add and manipulate host names in the Domain Control Panel. Learn more.
.htaccess (Hypertext Access)
The name .htaccess refers to the main configuration file for Apache, a popular server, as well as WordPress. Turbify does not currently allow you to upload .htaccess files to your account. For other customization options, we recommend the custom Error Pages and password-protection features available in your Web Hosting Control Panel.
HTML
HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is a formatting language used to create web pages and documents. HTML consists of sets of codes (called tags) that are used to control the way a document is displayed by a web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
