If you accept American Express as a payment method and wish to activate American Express CID (Card Identification) code verification for your store, you must do the following:
1. Contact American Express to request CID activation for your Amex merchant account
- Contact your American Express account manager to request CID activation.
- You will provide your American Express account manager with your 10-digit Service Establishment Number.
- Inform your American Express account manager that your e-commerce solution is Merchant Solutions, and that it is verified through First Data Merchant Services (FDMS) to accept American Express CID.
- If you do not have an American Express account manager you may submit your email request to ES.Fraud.Prevention@aexp.com. Type Turbify CID Activation in the subject line and include your 10-digit Service Establishment Number in the request. Do not submit a duplicate request. American Express will review the account to determine eligibility, and will activate CID if the account qualifies. Please allow at least 14 days for activation.
2. Enable CVV as a required field for checkout (optional)
3. Republish your Order Settings
- Order Settings must be republished to begin accepting American Express CID codes, even if you haven't made changes to your Risk Tools CVV settings.
Note: Merchants who require CVV and who republish order settings prior to CID activation should note that a P (Code Not Processed) code will be returned for all orders using American Express as the payment method until their merchant account has been activated for CID by American Express.
Note about Risk Tools settings
Merchants whose American Express merchant accounts have not been activated for CID, and whose Risk Tools CVV rules are set to flag orders for which a CVV/CID code is not provided or supported, should note that American Express orders meeting the Order Minimum will automatically be marked as Pending Review in the Order Manager.
