The Minimum-quantity variable determines the minimum number of an item that a shopper is allowed to purchase. By default this variable is set to one. You can use a variable override to set a higher minimum quantity for an item if you only wish to allow shoppers to purchase that number of an item or more. Typically this applies to low-margin items. Merchants can also choose to set a minimum order amount so shoppers are not allowed to check out below a certain order dollar amount.
Navigate to the item page for which you wish to set the Minimum-quantity value.
Click the Edit button in the Editor Toolbar.
Click the Override Variable button.
In the Override Variable dialog, select Minimum-quantity from the pull-down menu, then click the Update button.
The Minimum-quantity variable override now appears at the bottom of the page under Custom Properties. Enter the new value for Minimum-quantity.
Click the Update button.
Publish when ready.
Note: You may wish to inform shoppers of the minimum quantity requirement so they are not confused if they are unable to check out with less than the minimum number of a specific item required.
