The Checkout & Registration Manager allows you to display a persistent shopping cart on your checkout pages. This allows buyers to see the items and quantity, tax and shipping costs, along with the final order total. You have the ability to choose where the shopping cart displays: at the top of the page or aligned to the right of the page.
Merchants can select a shopping cart location to meet their needs based on their own experience and business goals:
- Top - When displayed at the top of the page, the shopping cart serves to remind customers of the total cost, especially the shipping charges to which many buyers are sensitive. By displaying this information prominently, merchants may reduce chargebacks from buyers who might otherwise return an order due to high shipping costs. If too prominent, this information may serve to reduce impulse purchases and it may push important required fields or information farther down the page causing excessive scrolling up and down the page.
- Right - When displayed to the right of the page, the order cost is available but does not detract from the other information on the page. Buyers that want to review this information can find it if necessary, but the location will serve to focus attention on the main page contents such as shipping or billing form fields. However, the less prominent location may lead some buyers to claim they did not see the final cost which can lead to chargebacks.
Merchants can choose to test their checkout pages using both of these options to see which location yields the best results.
Choose a shopping cart location
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.
- Go to Checkout & Registration Manager.
- Go to Global Settings.
- Under Checkout Process Configuration, select an alignment option for the shopping cart.
- Click the Save button when finished or the Save & Preview button to save and preview your changes.

Note: If you have selected a single-page checkout (in the Flow Settings tab), then the Shopping Cart section location only applies to the Order Review page, Address Verification (UPS only, if applicable), and Order Status/Confirmation pages. You cannot display the shopping cart on the right of the single-page checkout page itself.
