Important: Customer Registration is not supported in Microsoft-based browsers (such as Edge) released before April, 2019. It is also not currently supported on mobile devices.
Customer Registration makes registering a store account fast and simple for your customers. When enabled for your site, it provides a customer registration flow, customer account area for registered customers, a checkout options page, and tools with which you may set up and customize these features for your store.
Once you've enabled Customer Registration, your customers can:
- Register a store account using their existing Yahoo, AOL, Facebook, or Google user ID. Since our registration system uses OpenID, your customers won't have to remember additional user IDs or passwords. See more benefits of OpenID.
- Sign into their store account to enjoy a faster, more efficient checkout experience, with stored shipping and billing addresses pre-populated on checkout pages.
- Access their order information, order history, shipping status and tracking number(s) by signing into their account, instead of contacting the store merchant for this information.
- Easily re-order items with one click.
- Update their shipping and billing address(es), and other profile information at any time.
Enabling Customer Registration for your store is a two-step process. First, you must update your store templates to support Customer Registration, and publish your changes. Next, you must enable and configure Customer Registration in Checkout & Registration Manager. If you choose to enable registration with a Facebook ID as a registration option, you must also create a Facebook application. If you choose to enable registration with a Google ID as a registration option, you must also create a Google client ID.
