When creating coupons in Coupon Manager, you may choose between creating standard or single-use coupons.
These are coupons that may be redeemed any number of times by any number of shoppers, until the coupon expires. Since there is a high potential for standard coupons to be shared among customers or potential customers, these coupons are best suited for large-scale promotions, such as use in advertising or other special promotions where the intent of the coupon is to draw in many customers.
Standard coupons are created by first creating a coupon code. Coupon codes are not case-sensitive and may contain only letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Coupon codes may contain up to a maximum of 128 characters.
These are coupons that may be redeemed one time only, by a single customer. Single-use coupons are created in series, and each series may contain a maximum of 50,000 single-use coupon instances. For example, if you'd like to target a specific customer segment with the same offer, you may wish to create these single-use coupons as a series, to easier keep track of the coupons created with this offer, orders associated with this series, conversion rate, and revenue.
The coupon series is created by first creating a coupon prefix code. Prefix codes are used to begin each coupon code instance in a series, and will be followed by a randomly-generated code. Prefix codes are not case-sensitive and may contain only letters and numbers, up to a maximum of 7 characters.
Single-use coupons are best suited for rewarding loyal customers with exclusive offers, enticing specific customer segments, and improving customer service by extending special offers on a per-customer basis. For example, if a customer experienced problems with their order, you may wish to extend a special offer to this customer as an effort to earn their repeat business in the future.
A coupon will be auto-generated when enabling the free shipping option in Floating Cart Manager. The coupon will display in Coupon Manager and relevant orders in Order Manager with the prefix iyfc_ship_promo_. The only way to delete this coupon offer is to disable the free shipping option in Floating Cart Manager.
