Merchants that accept Discover Card as a payment option and have Risk Tools enabled should be aware that Discover handles and responds to CVV (known as CID for Discover Cardholders) information differently than MasterCard or Visa. With MasterCard or Visa, if the customer enters invalid CVV information the response code for no match will be returned through the payment gateway and then Risk Tools will use the rules you selected.
With Risk Tools enabled, the CVV field will appear on the Billing Information page in checkout. If a customer enters invalid CID information, even if the field was not required to submit the order, Discover returns a decline code through the payment gateway to your store. Risk Tool rules cannot be applied to declined authorizations. The customer will then need to correct the invalid CID information or choose another payment method to place the order.
If you accept Discover Card as a payment method you have a few options:
Note: Discover Card handles AVS the same as MasterCard and Visa and Risk Tools rules can still apply to AVS response codes.
A Note about Terminology:
The major Credit Card companies each use different terminology for the card security number appearing on the front or back of their credit card.
Turbify uses the term CVV or Card Verification Value as a generic term to cover all credit card security number types. When a card-specific term is used, then it applies only to the credit card that uses the specific term.
