If you're setting up a Rate Table, you will need to decide what it will be based on and enter the charges.
The choices for what to base your table on are:
- TAXABLE_AMOUNT - The ranges in your table represent the subtotal of the items in an order that have their Taxable property set to Yes.
- NONTAXABLE_AMOUNT - The ranges will represent the subtotal of the items in an order that have their Taxable property set to No.
- AMOUNT - The ranges will represent the subtotal amount of the entire order.
- WEIGHT - The ranges will represent the total of the Ship-weight properties of the items in the order (individual quantities of each item will be accounted for).
- ITEMS - The ranges will represent the total number of individual items in the order.
After you decide the basis, you can start entering the rates. You will see two columns where you can enter numbers. On each row, the left column says From and the right says Add.
Here is an example of how to use this table. In the example, we will assume that we have chosen the basis as Weight, but the process is the same for all basis:
So in this example:
- Any order with a total weight of 0-3.99 lbs. will be charged $2.00.
- Any order with a total weight of 4-6.99 lbs. will be charged $9.00.
- Any order with a total weight of 7 lbs. or more will be charged $15.00.
Hint: To give free shipping if customers order over a certain amount, number of items, weight, etc., format the last row so From equals the amount over which you want to give them free shipping and set the Add field to 0.
You will probably not need all of the rows, but if you need more than you are given, fill out all the rows present, then click the Add Additional Rows link. You will be given more blank rows to use. Learn more about setting up shipping rates and rules.
